The story behind this pic is one day my Martial Arts master challenged me to draw some karate puffs. I showed him the one I drew of Coff Girl for her birthday, (in case you don't remember [link]) he said that was cute but I needed to draw more. So here this one is - will be one of many.

Studying Martial Art is unlike anyting else. It's a lot harder than I thought it would be (this brand is tougher than the judo I half-heartidly studied in college), but this is something that I've always wanted to do ever scince I was a little boy but never got the chance to do. I will say this ... It's more than a sport or a hobby - it's more like a lifestyle. A journey of self-discovery if you will. But make no mistake about it - this is not a knitting class nor is this a session where we debate phylosophy or pseodo-religious consepts - we are training ourselves to FIGHT! Now, some of you out there are thinking, "What's with all this fighting and violence stuff - Can't we all just 'get along'?" The answer to that question is - sadly - NO, we can't! Knowing that, we must train. To keep our skills sharp and to measure ourselves, we have tournaments. Of course, fighting in tournaments is different than fighting on the street. Regardless, there is one opponent that is always with you, he or she is your most uncrushable foe. He wants you to take shortcuts, not train, wuss out ect. He (or she) is ... YOURSELF! So here I am, going up against myself. And would you look at that, my "other self" has a black belt already ... Sheee-it! What degree, I don't know. But I do know this, as long as I train and get stonger ... he gets weaker.
